By establishing nationwide universal helmet laws, we could save lives and the each state could save money. Universal Helmet laws limit the amount of money required to pay for healthcare in the attempt to save a life or in rehabilitation services for those who survive but now are faced with living with Traumatic Brain Injury
In 2011, 4,612 individuals were killed on motorcycles, and currently only 19 states have universal helmet laws. While helmets can not eliminate death entirely, they can decrease the lives taken, and decrease the amount of money that States are currently putting into healthcare for individuals who suffer from Traumatic Brain Injury.
