The electoral college effectively silences the voices of the political minority in every state via the implementation of a "winner takes all" system. Those American citizens deserve to have their votes heard.
The amount of electoral votes a state receives is based on the number of Congressmen plus the number of Senators. As a result, the electoral votes in states with fewer Congressmen have more weight than the states with more Congressmen due to the two votes from the Senators.
The electoral college can and has overturned the popular vote. The most recent example was the 2000 election where Bush won the election but lost the popular vote tally.
We petition our elected officials to dispose of the electoral college system and give the people the ability to choose their president.
