Create a new annual firearm ownership tax based on the number and ranked deadliness of the firearms.

The constitutional right of the citizens of the United States to own firearms shall not be abridged. Our society has demonstrated a strong desire to maintain free and unfettered access to firearms. The intrinsic deadliness and ready availability of firearms has a cost to society because there are a large number of crimes committed with these weapons that would otherwise be impossible to commit without them. Thus, it is incumbent on the firearm owners of the country to support the cost to society of these crimes. This petition is a request that a new annual tax be levied on all firearm owners which is based on the number and ranked deadliness of their firearms. In this way, our right to bear arms can be directly linked to our responsibility to maintain a civilized and peaceful society.
