History and statistics show that stricter gun control does not work. Many would-be massacres have been averted by law-abiding gun owners with LTCs, but only after they fetched their firearms from their parked vehicles.
It's also clear that arming all teachers, school employees, or students will not result in better safety for children. But we can't leave our children unprotected from harm, with police only able to arrive 10 minutes too late.
I propose the US allows a special LTC for interested employees of the school (with board approval) to allow carrying inside a school. Such licenses should require yearly training on gun safety and proper techniques for school defense situations (to be developed), and extensive background checks, paid for by these individuals or district citizens.
