Create a New Ellis Island Facility to Process Immigration

Created by R.N. on April 11, 2014

The Ellis Island facility was able to process 12 million immigrants between 1892-1954. It was able to screen for disease and poverty,. When they left, we knew who they were, where they came from, and where they were going. That is not necessarily the case now. Therefore, a new facility should be built on our southern border (e.g., Texas or Arizona) with about the same standards. Priority should be given to those whose cases are waiting to be processed, or those residing here the longest.
