The modern world has become too complex for our government to effectively manage. Whereas academic discussion often results in consensus, political discussion all too often degrades into endless argument - resulting in inflexible party lines, split votes, and political inaction.
We, the signers of this petition, call for the creation of a new government body. Much like the Supreme Court is trusted with deciding complicated legal cases, the proposed body will be trusted with governing matters that are academically unified, but politically divided.
The body will consist of no less than five of the country's foremost scholars in all areas pertinent to government. The body will gain authority in deciding legislation whenever the Congress cannot avoid lengthy filibusters and indecision.
