Create a new national level Civilian Conservation Corps

Created by M.H. on September 22, 2011

The original Civilian Conservation Corps was enacted in 1933 to restore forests and protect watersheds. The program lasted until 1942 and expanded into wildlife and soil conservation. The program provided jobs, training, and hope to hundreds of thousands of enrollees and their families. The economic benefit was immediate and continues to this day from the recreational areas and farming practices improved by the CCC. Conservation projects and techniques were also advanced by 20 years. We need a new CCC that immediately provides jobs to hundreds of thousands of citizens while they help to rebuild and improve the infrastructure of our country. The new CCC could implement the green economy of now through energy projects, building retrofits, and environmental restoration projects.
