This makes it impossible to quickly determine how much time a petition has left to acquire 25,000 signatures. And because the promise to answer each one that reaches that threshold is the major attraction of this site, that's one of the first things we need to know.
To put it bluntly, why should busy people waste time on petitions (no matter how appealing they look) if they appear destined to have their text and signatures erased after 30 days? That's what happened to this one, for example, which wound up 23,000 short on November 11:
