One argument against gun control is, it only acts on legal guns while criminals have illegal guns. The state of the economy makes it tough to take more action on illegal guns.This makes it difficult to create meaningful gun control laws.
One solution may be to levy a 100% tax on legal guns and a 1000% tax on all high capacity magazines.
This may help reduce the number of legal guns while providing a good amount of funds to go after the illegal guns.
This has the potential to create new jobs in the police department, to go after illegal guns.
This will not be against the second amendment either, I believe.
To help reduce the burden on gun owners who need it for protection, the first handgun need not be taxed (Assault weapons cannot be classified as handguns).
