Currently there is no federal oversight committee for permanent amusement parks and their rides. This means many parks are unregulated and accidents are not adequately investigated by the government. This petition is to request the government create a federal oversight committee specifically for permanent amusement parks and their rides. This must occur in order to ensure the safety of the over 290 million individuals who go to amusement parks annually. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has a federal oversight committee for travelling carnivals and their rides. We request that the same amount of government interest be taken in the safety of permanent amusement parks.
