Foreign investors are welcome to come here on E2 visas and buy or start businesses. They risk their own money to contribute to the U.S. economy and create jobs for Americans, yet they are not welcome to become permanent residents. Under current legislation, E2 investors must renew their visas every five years at great expense, leave the country every two years to renew their I-94 (permission to stay in the country) and renew their driver licences every year. The children of E2 investors must leave when they reach twenty one unless they can get a visa of their own, which is extremely difficult.
As other developed countries roll out the red carpet for foreign investors, America treats them like lepers. It's time to open the door to those with the money and the skills to create jobs.
