Create a pathway to immediately address the political status of a Puerto Rico.

Created by A.C. on February 06, 2014

Puerto Rico has been a territory of the United States since 1898. Since then, there has been four plebiscites held allowing the people of Puerto Rico a say in determining the political direction of the island but there has been no resolution since then. Part of the problem is that it is ultimately up to Congress to facilitate steps in allowing and approving the will of the people. In the 2011 President's Task Force on Puerto Rico's Political Status, President Obama stated that he is, "committed to working with Congress to ensure that a fair, clearly defined, and transparent process is available for the people of Puerto Rico to decide on their future for themselves." President Obama, the time is now to resolve Puerto Rico's ambiguous political status!
