Create Payday Laws and Protect Your Right to a Timely Paycheck

Created by K.M. on August 01, 2014

President Obama and Congress are requested to establish national payday laws, as well as laws to protect a worker's right to a timely paycheck.

Currently, there are no laws on a national level concerning these issues, and it has previously been left up to the state to dictate the requirements for employers. As such, these laws vary from state to state, but overall, give workers no way to defend themselves against withheld or erratic paydays. This makes it hard for workers to pay their bills, maintain a disposable income, or anticipate paychecks.

We request that firm laws are placed, dictating that an employer must inform their employees of paydays, an employer must pay their employees weekly, biweekly, or monthly, and employers will be penalized for late or missed paydays.
