In this day and age it is important to maintain up to date about Information Technology. To be aware of how it actually works in depth and with true understanding. Having this position would give the President and the rest of the Federal Government a go to person to advise on current technologies and lead the discuss on policies on how it to legally safe guard the Internet in general, provide Information Security expertise, as well as provide a point of contact for where the Government should invest in new innovative computer technologies. The Secretary of Commerce does over see this arena but in 2014 and going forward it has become a larger aspect within that scope that needs it's own specialized care.
