When Bank of America has impounds (holds money for property taxes and insurance) on mortgages, they are raising the monthly paymet required. Consequently, a persons monthly mortgage payment goes up, causing them to have difficulty paying. They slip behind and eventually are foreclosed on. When approaching the bank to use the programs the administration has put in place, the bank will talk to you about it for as much as a year. While the person sinks into debt, the bank does nothing and eventually forecloses. I have heard this same story too many times from my neighbors. We have no power or say in the matter. We need help from our government to negotiate with the banks. We don't have the expertise or free time to deal with them. Even a knowledeable mentor would help.
