A program recently started in British Columbia to take textbooks for 40 of the most common college courses and distribute free textbooks online for those courses. A similar program could do a lot for the U.S. to help students who have to pay their way through college or cannot afford it. New data shows that students at public schools in the U.S. pay around $1,168 for their books each year. A program like this could drastically reduce that.
