Many States have sought out separation due to political, social, economic, and geographic differences that hinder prosperity in their regions. Such include Northern California, Far West Texas, Western Illinois, and Eastern Colorado. The main problem at hand is that no proper system exists other than to hold a referendum and hope the state's legislation will not simply reject it to hold the state together. The process is legal, as seen by the division of West Virginia in the 1860's, but has not been repeated since. With this petition, an easy to follow federal process, out of the bias state's jurisdiction, will allow for the quicker creation of new states out of the lands of one state or more.
