With health care reform well on its way, it is likely that medicine will become more focalized on preventative care. One of the major epidemics facing American's today is obesity. There is an overwhelming amount of evidence today in the medical fields, that exercise often helps for many ailments, improves fitness, energy levels, decreases stress, and has also been evidenced that it is as effective for treating depression as medications. We have parks we can run in and trails, but there are few facilities available to all people in cases of inclement weather. Since healthcare is to be socialized, it is to the benefit of all tax payers, or insured, for people to have access to exercise equipment and/or instruction. People who desire to pay for private gyms will pay for the convenience.
