Create a public ballot for the legalization of recreational marijuana on a federal level and include a cannabis tax.

This is a petition for the federal government to recognize marijuana as a legal recreational drug. Prohibition is not working, alike the alcohol prohibition of the 20s. It is hindering our economy as many people are incarcerated for cannabis related crimes, many of which are nonviolent crimes. Frankly I am not really comfortable for paying for those people to be in prison. If the government wished to do so, they could tax and regulate marijuana which would be very helpful to the economy because it is a multi-billion dollar market. So many times I have heard that over 50% of Americans are in favor of legalization so its time to make it legal. Marijuana is less dangerous and less addictive than alcohol and SHOULD be legal. Sign this petition to end prohibition!
