Create regs that all packaged foods sold in the U.S. clearly display their expiration dates; no codes, no tiny print.

Created by L.M. on January 27, 2013

All packaged foods sold in the U.S. should be required to clearly post their expiration dates. This is a food safety, health and economic issue.
Currently, some food manufactures clearly post readable calendar expiration dates. Others post them so they are tiny and hard to read, so they don't print well, so they're torn off when we open the packaging, etc. Still other manufactures only list expiration or manufacturing dates in codes to totally hide this info from the consumer or to force consumers to go online or to call the manufacturer for info.
Most Americans at some point unknowingly eat expired, unsafe food (due to poor or coded labeling) - and get sick or even die from it. It also is an economic issue; how long food lasts effects buying choices & other food is thrown out too early.
