A variety of wearable video devices (Google Glass, Samsung glasses) will be coming to market. These devices record live video, which is analyzed to determine the identity of individuals or objects in the camera's view. While such devices can assist people with visual or learning disabilities, these devices may also present real risks to the public.
We can expect camera data to be analyzed and sent to marketers (SMI, Tobii). Unsuspecting bystanders, including those with health problems, could have their locations sent without their knowledge or consent.
We propose the creation of "save zones" in schools, medical facilities, etc. where these devices cannot be worn. Further, we propose a "do not track" option to disable recording of people or businesses who want their privacy protected.
