The United States of America is the only world leader without an equivalent of cabinet level position for the arts. This is not only a statement to the rest of the world on how the USA considers the arts, but has also lead to an erosion of funds for the arts disproportionate to the interest of other cabinet level positions.
Furthermore a secretary position can encourage creativity and education in the young. Leading the USA to an innovative tomorrow not only giving creative answers to today's, but also tomorrow's problems. We require a Secretary of Arts to develop and repair the creative infrastructure of our society, and aid in developing a "generous America,... a compassionate America,... a tolerant America" like the arts can do.
