We the People of the United States (both the youth and adults) believe that teenagers are the future of this country. That being said, our opportunities to thrive in politics are limited due to our age and lack of experience. Ironically, laws are passed with regard to youth activity despite our inability to provide input.
As a democratic nation, it is appalling that teenagers are being so drastically underrepresented. Democracy succeeds when those affected by legislation have the opportunity to voice their opinions.
Therefore, the youth of the nation urge President Obama to create a Secretary of Youth Affairs position to be held by a citizen that is aged 16 for the purpose of providing the president with the input and concerns of teenagers across the country.
