Making abortion illegal will not make it go away -- they'll still be performed illegally. The only way to possibly end abortion is to get rid of the actual need for abortions.
To accomplish this requires much reform: First, prevention. Safe sex education in class; You may not like it, but it works, and what works is what needs to be done. Free contraceptives and birth control should be a right everyone has access to.
Secondly, the burden on single mothers must be lessened, freeing them to care for their children and pursue their own ambitions. Free prenatal care, welfare reform, scholarships, free day care and other such services.
Third, for unwanted children, we need a complete overhaul of the adoption system in America.
