Create a social network financing system for government programs

Created by C.A. on September 22, 2011

Every year, Congress wrestles over the federal budget - what should be funded, what should not, what funding should be increased and what should be cut.

While this system was necessary at the founding of the country, since the establishment of the Internet and social networking, it has now become possible for each and every individual citizen to decide which programs are worth financing.

The federal government should create a direct donation system whereby individuals can choose which federal program or line item in the federal budget they want to support - this includes foreign aid, investing in social programs, the military, the arts, education and so on. These donations could be tax deductible and would bypass many of the political battles in Congress.
