Constructing new roads and parking lots from solar roadway tiles and gradually replacing other roadways as they age would create a multi-million $$$ industry which would create thousands of jobs at a time of high unemployment. Initial costs would be high, but a lot less than the cost of our 12-year plus involvement in Iraq. This is clean energy that would eliminate our need for foreign oil and for fracking. Solar roadways generate heat so snow and ice melt away in the winter, eliminating billions of dollars in snow removal and power outage costs for states and also saving lives. It's estimated that if all US roadways went solar, we'd produce 3X more energy per year than we actually need. This is the right direction for a better, cleaner U.S. future.
