America needs to be free of foreign fossil fuels for our energy needs. A solar/wind/Geo-thermal "Hoover Dam" project spanning the entire nation will create jobs, expand our technological base and grow our energy infrastructure. America needs to be in the business of energy, just like we are in the business of information technology and aerospace. President Kennedy challenged America to put a man on the moon in a decade. We need to create a energy system to make America self sufficient from foreign fossil fuels within the next decade. America's petroleum assets need to be preserved, not burned in automobiles or power plants, and used for future electronic projects. This sort of project would create a technological advance similar to what the Apollo program did for computers.
