Create a special class of criminal action that covers mass shootings. This class of crime would not require a trial.

Mass shooting such as the case in Newtown, CT. or Aurora, CO. are crimes that should be classified under a new section of the law that does not require a trial by jury or judge. The criminal in such acts do not have a legitimate defense for such actions and there is no reasonable doubt that they commit such crimes. The waste of tax payers money for the trial, the undo stress put upon the victims and their families, and the 'fame' that such criminals receive from constant media coverage is a detriment to our society. Hearings should be held to determine the sanity of those who commit these crimes in order to place them in either maximum security prison or maximum security mental health institutions for the rest of their lives.
