We ask President Obama to establish a strict policy requiring airlines to refund money to the consumer when the consumer cancels a reservation. Money should be returned, not a voucher or an exaggerated cancellation fee of $150; especially if no services were exchanged. Most of the time, cancelled seats are quickly resold and usually at a higher rate than the original. Example:
First flight reservation cost(1 month in advance): $450
Cancelled reesrvation (2 weeks later): receive voucher of the amount minus $150= $300 that has be used within a year and no name change allowed.
Airline resells same seat (4 days after cancellation): $1700
Airline just made $1700 + $150; and if the consumer doesn't fly within a year they make $300 more = $2150
