According to the United Nations, human trafficking involves the recruitment, transport and receipt of people across borders "by improper means, such as force, abduction, fraud or coercion, for an improper purpose, like forced or coerced labour, servitude, slavery or sexual exploitation."
Human trafficking is one of the fastest-growing activities of transnational criminal groups. It can happen to anyone, and has already happened to 27 million people worldwide. It is important that people know about this, and it is extremely important that we create and enforce laws strict enough to help the victims of human trafficking, and prevent more trafficking itself.
