Most people don't want to think about it, but animals in this country (for food, that is) are treated terribly. It's ironic we use the word "humane" when we are the least humane animal of all. I petition to make free-range, cage-free and antibiotic free treatment a necessity, and for harsher monitoring of animal treatment.
This is also a health issue: if you treat the animals better, they will be healthier for human consumption.
