We all receive lots of mail on a daily basis - both email and "snail" (USPS) mail.
However, when it comes to email, at least we have filters to keep spam and sales emails out of our private email boxes. When it comes to USPS mail, we have no such rights/capacities.
Strong guidelines need to be put in place to prohibit USPS mail from resembling legitimate, legal mail - especially when it is designed to look like the IRS or another government agency is sending the mail!
Ideally, all sales/spam type email should be required to:
1) identify itself as "sales"/"consumer offer" or similar on its envelope & on its contents;
2) not bear any wording that says it's "official" or misleads consumers to think it comes from the government.
Help strengthen consumers' protections from mail fraud!
