To acknowledge the fundamental injustice, cruely, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the 13 American colonies between 1619 and 1865, the subsequent Jim Crow era, and continuing discrimination, and to establish a commission to examine the institution of slavery, de jure and de facto racial and economic discrimination against African-Americans, and the impact of these forces on living African Americans, to make recommendations to the U.S. Congress on appropriate remedies, including Reparations, and for other purposes. We request the President take a leadership role in supporting H.R. 40, Sponsored by U.S. Rep. John Conyers since 1987.
