Create a subsidy/tax credit for gun owners to purchase gun safes to keep guns out of the hands of children and criminals

Created by L.D. on January 19, 2016

Because gun safes are so expensive and out of reach for normal citizens the government should create a subsidy or tax incentive to purchase a gun safe. This would help to ensure that children or criminals do not come into possession of a firearm because it is not adequately secured or protected when the adult/gun owner is not in a position to monitor their weapons because they are at work, on vacation, or generally not in the residence to provide 24/7/365 over watch of their weapons. Gun owners are responsible owners for 99.9% of those who own weapons. Therefore, by providing a subsidy or tax incentive for the purchase of a gun safe most gun owners would buy a safe. By keeping guns out of the hands of children and criminals through proper protection it would help to cut gun deaths.
