For decades, action to combat global climate disruption has been stymied by special interests who benefit from the status quo. Scientists have brought great clarity to the problems we have created in our environment, but facts and data have been replaced by denial and disinformation in the public arena.
The Obama administration promised throughout the 2008 campaign to meaningfully address global climate disruption, but so far a coherent sustainable policy has been too politically difficult to muster. Such a plan is desperately needed, and should be created, with input from the best scientists who bring reason and respected methods to the table.
Please, for the sake of our children, keep the promises you made in 2008.
