This petitions requests action on creating an accreditation system (like ABET) that facilitates online learning by separating qualifications into two categories: online learning and hands on learning
There are many majors that could be completed entirely online and qualify the individual for work in their major, but don't have the benefit of ABET accreditation. Some majors can be mostly completed online, but require a few hands-on courses as well (which could be taken at local universities or colleges for the person seeking a degree). This petition proposes to cooperate with ABET to broaden their recognition of programs that fit into these two categories, and expand online learning to help drive the cost of education down.
