There seem to be more and more petitions being thrown up on this website that need to be filtered.
The idea behind this petition page is very brilliant in that it raises awareness of important issues to the people and to the President, however the influx of less thought-out petitions and ones with impossible demands are a threat that could cause all petitions to not be taken seriously.
The system we propose would not immediately throw away petitions deemed poor, but a panel would check them for quality. The panel would correct grammatical errors so the petition would appear more professional and before publishing have the originator of the petition verify they are okay with the changes. Also issues not legally or logically possible would be rejected with explanation as to why.
