Even though there is something that already checks to see if there are similar petitions it obviously does not work. And when there are multiple petitions for the same thing people may become confused and the petitions may not garner as many signatures as possible if there was only one. Today is a grand example, there are at least 8 petitions that are calling for gun control reform in one way or another.
