Create a tax credit for the purchase of gun safes and gun locking devices

The Government needs to create an assistance program to help responsible gun owners purchase gun safes and locking devices instead of trying to control the purchase of firearms. Gun safes and locking devices are very expensive and locking devices are often not sold with firearms. If a tax credit was given for purchasing these items more people would utilize them. Safes and locking devices could potentially keep firearms out of the wrong peoples hands and could cut down on gun related deaths. The shooting in Sandy Hook Elementary School could have possibly been prevented if the guns had been secured in a safe. Gun control is not the answer but encouraging firearm responsibility and safety is a sure way to reduce the number of gun related deaths.
