Create a tax deduction to encourage off duty Law Enforcement hours to provide volunteer security at our schools.

Created by J.B. on December 17, 2012

President Obama,

We ask your administration to create legislation that would allow our off duty law enforcement officers to provide volunteer security at our schools. Further more we ask for you to encourage this activity by providing a tax deduction for their valuable time.

We propose that this deduction reduce the taxable income of the law enforcement volunteers by a ratio of volunteer hours to regular work hours completed. E.g. If the officer works 40 hours a week, and volunteers 20, taxable income would be reduced by 50%.

This could be a non-partisan bill that would allow immediate reinforcement to our school security. It would provide local solutions that would strengthen our communities through service. No additional taxes or federal spending would be needed to enact this law.
