create tax deductions for businesses that provide direct contributions to employees' student loan debts

Created by M.C. on May 30, 2014

Student loan debt is a major crisis for many young Americans who have invested in their own minds and educations in order to fulfill their roles as contributing citizens. Creating tax incentives for businesses to contribute directly to employees' student loan debts is an innovative way to help prevent loan default while creating a new and valuable benefit for employers to offer their employees. Currently, such tax benefits are available to individual debtors, and providing similar incentives to businesses provides a way for companies to increase the benefits available to the employee and be rewarded for it. Ultimately, this may be one small step toward relieving the burden of student loan debt that over 40 million Americans currently face while ensuring the government is paid its debts.
