It's too easy for firms to cut headcount in tough times. They focus on the quick step of cutting staff to improve the bottom line this year rather than the tougher work of capturing more customers and growing the top line for the future.
The unemployed then become a public burdon...tapping extended unemployement benefits, Medicaid, food stamps and other assistance. And/or they must personally take on the cash-sucking personal expense of COBRA or other private-health-insurance coverage. America loses their productivity while they search for a new position.
This petition suggests that the Fed implement a serious TAX BENEFIT for those private-sector firms that maintain or increase (even bigger benefit?) the number of permanent, full-time employees on their payroll year over year.
