We, the concerned people of the United States, believe firmly that excessive violence in film and video games has created a society in which such acts are readily acceptable and no longer shocking or disturbing. We ask that films and video games with excessive violence (graphic murders, rapes, shootings, etc) be taxed so that the buyer must pay more to purchase a ticket or game. We ask for violent film tickets to carry a tax equal to the ticket price and a mandatory 21+ age minimum for film. A 30% price tax on violent video games with the same age limit would also apply. Taxes collected shall be earmarked for anti-violence programs and creative arts programs in schools. We believe the media world will respond with greater creativity, innovation and a true understanding of their influence.
