Studies have shown that those Representatives that are under term limit restrictions perform better for their citizens, than those without. The polls also show that the overwhelming majority of Americans favor term limits for congress.
Term limits are needed to stop and heal the culture of corruption that is currently controlling Washington. The longer a representative stays in, the more they begin to take care of themselves rather than their citizens. Term limits will greatly reduce the effect of lobbyists on representatives. Term limits encourage change, intellectual debate, and will create the turnover that America needs. Politicians would then have to take into account the affect of their legislation. They would no longer have their positions to protect them.
