Create Term Limits for the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives

Created by R.S. on March 12, 2014

Currently, there are no term limits for the Senate or Congress. In the last two months alone, multiple representatives have announced their retirement from office after 23 years (Pastor -AZ), 40 years (Waxman -CA, Miller - CA), and 58 years (Dingell - MI). While these representatives may have done an exellent job, it is our firm belief that serving in office for decades leads to a representative's detachment from the realities of his/her's constituents daily lives and can allow politics to influence their votes more than the actual views of the people for whom they are appointed to speak in their home state. It is increasingly difficult to unseat an incumbent with special interests funneling money into elections. Therefore, we need an added mechanism to ensure we are heard in Washington.
