Create the Transgender Day of Remembrance.

Created by G.G. on October 25, 2015

A day of remembrance will demand awareness for the thousands of transgender people who are victims of heinous acts of trans-targeted violence. Trans people have a 1 in 12 chance of being murdered. More than 1 in 4 trans people have reported bias- driven assault. More than 22% of transgender people who had interacted with police reported police harassment, and 6% of transgender individuals reported that they experienced bias-motivated assault by officers. Black transgender people reported much higher rates of biased harassment and assault (38% and 15%). Most trans people are denied jobs, education, and healthcare, that they are more than qualified for, because of being transgender. We must honor our Declaration of Independence and certify that society upholds "..all men are created equal.
