We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Create true interstate reciprocity for teaching certifications

Created by C.K. on August 15, 2016

As it stands now, each state creates regulations as to how potential teachers become certified in grade levels and/or subject matter. However, if an already certified teacher wishes to move to another state, s/he must start the certification process over again which can cost hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars as well as time and frustration.

This petition asks the Department of Education to mandate that states review the requirements and qualifications of other states in order to determine what will be accepted. For example, if a teacher moves from New York to California, a special committee in CA would have already reviewed the NYS certification exams and determined that they would accept an 85% as a passing grade.
