It is time for this country to create a well regulated Militia as called for by the Constitution. To achieve this goal we should take the Florida concealed weapons program and expand it to every citizen who wishes to be part of this militia.
The Florida concealed weapons licensing process is a model worth following. Each Florida resident is required to take a written test proctored by a licensed weapons instructor. Applicants are then required to prove their competency with a hand gun, again monitored by a licensed weapons instructor.
Purchasing a handgun and joining this militia will require a concealed weapons permit. If we trust our citizens to buy a handgun we must trust them to carry them to conceal those weapons and be willing to demonstrate their ability to do so.
