This would establish a paid Federal/State Veterans Corps that would receive training from industry and government in the trades and emergency skills needed to assist states following emergencies.
The Corps would also provide counseling services as well as training and housing that would help Veterans transition back into civilian life and employment. Successful completion of a three year period of service would earn a credit to be used in the purchase of a foreclosed home, giving the veteran a stake in their community, as well as helping reduce the housing inventory of banks that benefited from Federal loans during the housing crisis.
