I currently volunteer at the NPS on the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and after the recent attacks around the world and the growing possibility that it might happen to such a historic and meaningful icon to our country, more eyes and ears may be needed to defend the Parks around the nation.
Recently, there was a full island evacuation, because of a Bomb threat. It was a hoax, however, I am sure that the Police could use help in identifying a situation, before it happens. And the current Volunteer program can't cover such a task.
